托福寫作經典題範文

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?  The ability to adapt to new work environments is as important as a high degree of excellent knowledge for the job.

In modern society, since everything we encounter is more complicated than before, not only excellent knowledge but the ability to adjust to new work settings is essential to today’s job seekers. Many companies have started to be biased towards workers with strong flexibility. In my view, the lack of adaptive capacity will bring negative effects to work performance, despite possessing a wealth of knowledge. More relevant reasons and details will be presented as follows to further clarify my standpoint.
Firstly, failing to adjust to work conditions may disturb teamwork. In ever-changing society, many tasks are so sophisticated that it is quite significant for all employees to deal with them via teamwork. Without good adaptability, members in a team can hardly build a close relationship among themselves, thus hindering internal coordination and eventually reducing their working efficiency.
Secondly, adaptation to an unfamiliar workplace is necessary for us to tackle our job duties. For instance, even though a new engineer may possess a high academic degree, a unique work environment that is unseen in textbooks would render his knowledge useless. Therefore, this is why many renowned entrepreneurs emphasize that practical experience is the major key to achieving great success in business, whereas academic knowledge is merely a basic threshold.
Lastly, inability to accommodate to new circumstances may give rise to mental problems. If a worker is highly educated but inapt at getting along with colleagues well or mitigating undue pressure, the consequent negative emotions will inevitably dampen his working enthusiasm and even cause him to suffer from mental diseases such as melancholia. Accordingly, the statement that knowledge is a guarantee to perform well in the workplace is just a myth and absurd.
In a nutshell, upgrading people’s knowledge for the job is not a panacea for the country’s economic ills and the serious problem of unemployment. To handle these, not only should a company set up a good staff training system for new employees, but our school education has to focus on cultivating students’ communication skills so that they will be more adaptive in their future careers.
