雅思口說 Part 1 主要是要測試考生的語言流利度 (fluency)，所以能自然地回答問題並加以解釋即可。但，除了基本款跟工作、主修、居住環境相關的問題之外，另一個部分的主題，每一季都會有所不同。

2023年第ㄧ季的口說，又出現了讓很多考生傻眼的 Jewellery主題： 

1. Do you often wear jewellery?

2. What type of jewellery do you like?

3. Do you usually buy jewellery?

4. Why do you think some people wear a piece of jewellery for a long time?

首先，jewellery (UK)/jewelry (US)為不可數名詞，在回答時，切勿自己加上複數-s。而 jewels = jewellery 

再來，jewellery 在劍橋字典裡的定義為：decorative objects worn on your clothes or body that are usually made from valuable metals, such as gold and silver, and precious stones

也就是說，只要是戴在身上有裝飾功能的金屬，像是金或銀飾，還有珍貴寶石，都是屬於 jewellery。

所以在回答時，提到 a silver ring 或 a silver necklace 都是可以的。

當然如果要再更安全一點，diamond 是絕對沒有問題的，男同學也可以說 Diamonds are my favourite because they sparkle so much. I really love things that are eye-catching (even though I am not wearing any diamonds today). 

同學也可以先搜尋一下自己喜歡的珠寶是什麼，Ava 喜歡 art deco vintage engagement ring。台灣有一些賣家會從英國進口古董首飾，這類珠寶在英國的古董珠寶店，或是古董市集，非常普遍。同學留學期間不妨試試看，也許能挖到寶。

另外，今年三月 CNN 報導 'Ultra-rare' pink diamond expected to sell for more than $35 million at auction，極罕見的粉紅鑽石，Sotheby’s (蘇富比) 預計拍出三千五百萬美金。
