When it comes to fulfilling a project, we are faced with an inevitable and pivotal choice between cooperating with others and working on our own. This dilemma has evoked a heated debate. In my view, I strongly agree with the statement that working with others is better than struggling alone. Detailed reasons will be elaborated on in the following paragraphs.
First of all, working in a group, we can gather a dazzling spectrum of creative ideas. As a convincing proverb goes, “Two heads are better than one.” Different people have different specialties. A sophisticated issue usually requires opinions from experts from a wide range of fields. On the other hand, others are more likely to find the defects of the original draft and blind spot of our own thoughts. Additionally, the efficiency is higher with greater manpower. Therefore, when encountering a knotty problem, I always look to my fellows and discuss my doubts with them.
Second, collaborating with others can reinforce friendships among the comrades. Take my own story for example. I once ran a science camp for elementary school children with my classmates. The tasks were extremely tough. We had to prepare all the equipment and teaching materials on our own. We had to take care of the kids and make the activities run smoothly. To make the situation worse, two typhoons came and many unexpected errors happened. Exhausted, we still strove with each other’s help overnight. Frustrated, we encouraged each other to be optimistic. Beaten, we stood up with perseverance and sweated with laughter. After this, our companionship is stronger than steel and more brilliant than gold.
Admittedly, associating with others may cause delays of progress and may even give rise to negative moods if the communication is not carried out appropriately. However, the ability to collaborate with others is worth developing. Furthermore, striving together with our companions gives us a sense of community and stirs up team morale. Succeeding, we’ll have a greater sense of fulfillment and satisfaction than the time when we finish the jobs solely. Even failing, we still have each other’s consolation. With them, I always feel strong and comforted.
“Two men are stronger than one.” Teamwork brings us better capacities to tackle thorny missions, and fortify the relationships between team members. It also gives us a sense of triumph and helps us learn how to deal with people. Consequently, I firmly support the claim that working in a team is more beneficial than struggling on one's own.
