托福寫作經典題範文
environment or economy

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?
The government should focus more on preserving the natural environment and less on economic development.

Choice is the allocation of limited resources to best satisfy unlimited wants. Whether environmental protection or economic growth is the priority for the government has been under fiery debate on political panel shows. Personally, I believe the significance of preserving our earth overtakes its counterpart. More reasons and details will be shed light on in the ensuing paragraphs.
First of all, no environment, no economy. As you thumb through the book named history, humankind has relied heavily on natural resources to evolve from primitive tribal society to modern civilization. Without wind, waterfalls, and timber, we might come across the adversity of having skimpy electricity. Without the ocean, we might fall short of seafood. Without Mother Earth, we could not even exist in the universe. Are oil leaks, toxic gas emissions and deforestation our payback for the privilege?
Furthermore, judging rationally from the current condition, ecological conservation is an urgent task. Innumerable species are on the brink of extinction if we take no action, while the economic recession is a rather gradual alteration. Frankly speaking, human beings can live without currencies and stocks, but they would perish soon for lack of fresh air and water.
Finally, private firms should share the burden of national economy.
Currently, enterprisers who care about the profits and indexes on financial charts far outnumber those who take global issues as their responsibility. The government, in fact, is the only one who addresses the harsh situation of wildlife. Consequently, the authorities concerned should enforce stringent regulations and offer incentives to involve the private sector in safeguarding the natural ecology, in a bid to prevent the tragedy of the commons from happening ever again.
In a nutshell, with the three above-mentioned grounds, I firmly advocate the claim that the officials should congregate more funds and forces for the natural public goods. A fragile environment chokes the growth of economy; therefore, it is everyone’s obligation to cease bureaucracy and preserve the blue planet for our next generation.
